Environments For Aging (EFA) gathered a jury of industry professionals for a live event Jan. 15-16 in Dallas to determine the winning projects in its 20th annual Design Showcase.

The 20-member jury is appointed by EFA publication partners: the Society for the Advancement of Gerontological Environments (SAGE), The Center for Health Design, the International Interior Design Association, and the American Society of Interior Designers.

Nearly 50 projects were submitted in this year’s Showcase, which is an annual review of projects in senior care settings, from conceptual designs to newly completed buildings, produced by EFA in association with the partner organizations. The jury panel, including architects, designers, providers, and consultants, reviewed the submissions electronically over a one week period before meeting in Dallas to discuss the projects.

Of those, one earned the top honor of Award of Merit, with four additional projects given an Honorable Mention. The winning projects will be profiled as part of EFA’s Showcase coverage in the Spring 2016 issue of the magazine.

The winning projects are as follows:

Award of Merit:

St. John's Brickstone, submitted by SWBR Architects

Honorable Mentions:

Avanti Senior Living at Towne Lake, submitted by PRDG

Legacy Place Cottages, submitted by RLPS Architects

Whitney Center, submitted by SFCS Architects

MorningStar at Arrowhead, submitted by Thoma-Holec Design LLC

An awards ceremony for the winning projects will be held at the EFA Conference (April 9-12, Austin, Texas).
