A new 130,000-square-foot project, Sunrise at East 56th, has broken ground in New York. The property also known as “The Welltower,” will be Midtown Manhattan’s first senior living community, offering assisted living and memory care.

Designed by SLCE Architects, with interiors by Champalimaud, the 151-unit community will house complementary retail at the base and will be managed by Sunrise Senior Living.

The 16-story development will feature large windows, multiple terraces and outdoor gardens, and many common areas, including dining rooms, a salon, exercise facilities, medical examination rooms, an art studio, and a theater. Wellness features include air purification systems, circadian lighting, and more.

Sunrise At East 56th anticipates completion of construction in early 2020. Project partners include Hines and Welltower Inc.
