The live judging event to determine the top projects in Environments for Aging‘s annual Design Showcase was recently held in Dallas. In the end, 44 projects were accepted for publication in the Showcase, with eight rising to become finalists, two receiving Honorable Mention, and one given the top honor of Award of Merit.

Jury members, appointed by SAGE (Society for Advancement of Gerontological Environments), The Center for Health Design, the International Interior Design Association, and American Society of Interior Designers, included 17 experts representing architecture, interior design, senior living providers, landscape design, food service, and other specialties.

The group met at 2018 Award of Merit-winning community, T. Boone Pickens Hospice and Palliative Care Center. The winners and finalists are as follows:

The Award of Merit and Honorable Mention winners will be celebrated during an EFA magazine awards luncheon to be held during the 2019 Environments for Aging Expo & Conference in Salt Lake City (April 7-10). Representatives from the project teams will also participate in an educational session on the program during EFA Expo, sharing project challenges and solutions and specific details on how owner goals were met so successfully.
