Rye Brook, N.Y.-based FilBen Group opened its new $35.5 million assisted living facility, Braemar at Wallkill, in Middletown, N.Y., this past spring. The campus is situated on a landscaped, six-acre property and the 130,000-square-foot community accommodates 200 residents.

The building, designed by H2M Architects and Engineers (Long Island, N.Y.), also has a dedicated wing for memory care services and space allocated for a Social Adult Day Care program.

To keep within the aesthetic of the surrounding area, the Adirondack-style exterior features a porte cochère, natural colors and stone. Inside, the arts-and-crafts-inspired interior, designed by Jessica Coppola of FilBen Group, highlights the use of natural materials and earth tone colors. Local reclaimed wood and stone were used for the grand fireplace and creates a focal point in the lobby, which features 20-foot ceilings accented by barn-wood beams.

The 130 one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments are fully furnished and feature outdoor views and modern finishes in neutral colors.

The approximately 36,000-square-foot main floor is dedicated to resident activities and features multiple game rooms, parlors, and restaurant-style dining. A wellness center, fitness and physical therapy suite, and outdoor recreation areas are also provided.
